An Open Mother’s Day Letter
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mother’s everywhere. I salute you for your unselfish love and the ability to never fault when we needed you the most. Whether she is the biological or non-biological person in your life, a mother is a strong confident woman who is the pinnacle of strength and maturity. She is the backbone of the family and the first one we run to in times of need. It is not easy to be a mother, but the selfless role that you have taken on is nothing short of spectacular. Your constant presence in our lives has reassured us that love is an unconditional emotion that doesn’t come with instructions because it only happens naturally. Today is your day to be pampered with acknowledgments, jewelry, special dinners or something as simple as a Mother’s Day card filled with sweet poetic words to remind you of what a mother is. I could not think of a more appropriate day to celebrate Mother’s. The appreciation and respect that these women deserve are priceless. How can you ever put a price on a heart that pumps a warm feeling of kindness and emotional availability? Simple, you can’t! Because to be a mother there is no boundary she would not cross to care and protect her family. For that reason, take the time to remember all the times you spent staying up late talking and laughing about your day. As a mother, she always wanted to know what life changes you were going through and what she could do to comfort you. Even after working a double shift and getting home late, she felt it was her responsibility to make sure you had something to eat and your graduation budget was paid on time. Therefore, those of you who do not have a good or close relationship with your mother, take the time to get to know her and If you can open your heart and forgive her for the indiscretions and be respectful. Let time heal your relationship, but most of all, let the universe do what it does best and that is pray to forgive those who can’t pray for themselves. In closing, all I want to say to mothers everywhere, especially my mother, Thank you. Thank you, for your uncanny ability to love me and put up with my foolish behavior over the years. Thank you for teaching me how to be a woman and a mother who is blessed to share her values with her own children. Thank you and Happy Mother’s Day!
